Broad-bodied chaser

Broad-bodied Chaser,
Libellula depressa.

Spotted on a number of occasions by the pond in the Wildlife Trail. Identified by the yellow dots along its side and its broad body. Photo Stephen Middleton

Female Broad bodied chaser filmed laying eggs at the pond in the Wildlife Trail. The male has a blueish body with yellow dots. Inline with information from the British Dragonfly Society’s stating that they are often the first to colonise new ponds, this was the first dragonfly we saw. Video: Simon Olley
